Believe it or not, the best-selling song of all time is Bing Crosby’s, “White Christmas”. Over 100 million copies sold worldwide.
While we’re still not sure if we will have snow for Christmas, I do have to admit it would be nice. But more important than having a white Christmas, there should be a desire in our hearts to have a “right” Christmas.
To have a “right” Christmas, we, first, need the right gift. John 3:16 tells us that God gave His only begotten Son. All would be in vain to celebrate Christmas without having accepted Jesus, God’s Son, as your free gift of salvation.
Then, we should accept the right invitation. In Matthew 11:28, Jesus said, “Come unto me all ye that labour and are heavy laden and I will give you rest”. With all the preparations and busyness of the season we need to remember to rest in Him. Take time to praise and worship Him.
Lastly, to have a “right” Christmas, we must have the right spirit. Galatians 5:22-23 tells us, “But the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law”. We all need a reminder of these qualities and what a great time of year to show God’s love by putting this verse into action.
So, whether we have a white Christmas or not, thank God for His Unspeakable Gift in giving us a chance to have a “right” Christmas! May God bless you, is my prayer, during this Christmas Season.
