What a blessed promise is found in Psalm 27:10, “When my father and my mother forsake me, then the Lord will take me up.” As a Pastor, I’m occasionally asked to officiate at funerals and have often used this verse to comfort grieving families.
The trials of this life are many, and lonely is the path that so often we walk. Everyone needs help, strength and encouragement in this life. Isaiah tells us in Chapter 40 that the youths will fail and the young shall fall but they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength.
Trusting God gives us three dimensional strength: strength to fly above the cares of this world, strength to run and finish the course that God has put before us, and strength to walk the path that He has chosen for us.
Why do we that know God, still seek our own way out? Why do we not look to the strong arm of Jehovah to help us? We have become too busy to learn to trust God and walk by faith, too busy making money to buy things we, many times, don’t need, to impress people we don’t even know. We are all pretty well frayed in this pandemonium of life.
How good it would be for us in this “one nation under God” to trust in Jehovah’s might and not in our own wisdom. Calm yourself and realize God is in control. Then yield to Him and give Him first place in your life. Relax and throw open the window of your soul and let the cooling breeze of God’s peace be yours. He who rules Israel does not slumber, nor does He sleep. He has never failed His own.
