Someone has wisely said: “If I could mother this world, I could save this world.” Another said: “The hand that rocks the cradle rules the world.”
Our world is influenced so greatly by our mothers. It hardly seems right that we just honor them one day a year. And yet, it is with great delight that we think upon these blessed women and thank them for their courage, their guidance, their love, their devotion, and their unending loyalty.
As our world continues to change and become even more complex, the home is experiencing the challenge of keeping pace with the many diversions that is a part of our society. Our Moms hold a vital role in keeping the home focused on what God intended for it to be.
Education alone will not suffice. Good atmosphere alone will not suffice. Financial security alone will not suffice. We must have godly mothers to lovingly guide the way. Motherhood is highly exalted in the Bible. It’s clear in God’s Word that a mother is to be honored, obeyed, and supported by her children. In the Mosaic law, if a man were to strike or curse his mother or father, the death penalty was required (Ex.21:15). God teaches us that children are to show reverence their parents. A mother’s gentle love and guidance is so important in teaching this great truth.
Today, in this world of constant change and complexity, let’s thank God for these dear women who give so much for us. I trust that this Mother’s Day, you will be sure to show your appreciation and love to your Mom for her influence in your life.
