I made this comment to a Pastor recently, “We do not attract what we want, we attract what we are.” Most people whom I have observed set their goals on material, or tangible things. Few seem to realize that the best way to obtain tangible goals is to develop in their personality and in their character the qualities that will help them achieve their goals.
Truer words never were spoken – you attract what you are. We talk about what we want and about what we have, but a wise man once said, “Almost everyone wants to have, few people want to be.”
The people who make a real success of their lives are the people who have developed character and personality. They are people who honestly recognize their personality and character weaknesses and set a course to change them. They are more interested in being than having.
God does not measure a man by what he has in the way of materialism, but by what he is. So remember, in this day of declining friendships and business ventures that you attract what you are. If you want the right friends and acquaintances, then be the right person. How often I have heard the same old line, “I have no friends and the ones I have are no good for me.” Be something that good is attracted to.
