All of us have a desire to be prosperous. Television and online ads all rage about how to prosper. Although many desire success, many do not really and properly understand it. Nor do many know how to obtain success. It is as misunderstood in our day as anything you can imagine.
Many think that prosperity is wealth, or the gaining and accumulation of wealth. Now, although there is nothing wrong with having wealth, prosperity is far more valuable than money in the bank.
We can make a living, but not know how to live. We can have money in our wallets, but nothing of true value. Money cannot buy wisdom. Money cannot buy love. Money cannot buy health. Money cannot buy peace, and most certainly, money will not take you to Heaven.
Money and prosperity are not the same. Money is accumulating wealth, but prosperity is heading in the direction of and accomplishing that which God has given you to do.
A truly successful person sees God in every aspect of life. Although many who I know personally have never accumulated much in the way of material things, I consider them to be very prosperous. They have faith and love. They care for others and are cared for in return. They strive to raise children who are responsible citizens and faithful to God. They have a peace and contentment about them, and enjoy every day to its fullest. They own a simple home, have a modest income, but they possess what money cannot buy – prosperity!
As we go about our week, let’s focus, not on how much money we can make so that we can become wealthy, but rather how much of ourselves we can give, so that we may become prosperous.
