Our Beliefs & Visions
Our mission is the worship of God, the salvation of souls, and instruction in righteous living (making disciples).
Our family of Faith was formed in 1977 when a handful of people committed their lives to see God perform a miracle on a hill between the rich fertile farmland of Kent county and the sandy shores of the scenic Chesapeake Bay. Because of the path they forged, and the countless who have followed in their footsteps, many have been able to witness the faithfulness of our Great God.
After 40 years a vibrant Church and a Christian academy of 200 plus students meet every week on the property and in the wonderful facilities God has given us. The unmistakable way in which God has providentially led us to this place has stretched our faith and caused us to believe that, as great as our history has been, the best days for this ministry are just over the horizon.
Scripturally, the church has a 3-fold purpose and that is to exaltour God, to edify one another, and to evangelize the world.
Scriptures
We believe the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments to be the verbally inspired Word of God, the final authority for faith and life, inerrant in the original writings, infallible and God-breathed.
Trinity
We believe in the one God, eternally existing in three persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, co-eternal in being, co-identical in nature, co-equal in power and glory, and having the same attributes and perfections.
Creation
We accept the Genesis account of creation, and believe that man came by direct creation of God and not by evolution.
Fall of Man
We believe that man, in the person of the first Adam, was created in innocence, but by voluntary transgression fell into sin, thus plunging the whole race into condemnation and death, so that now all mankind is born with a sinful nature, and in the case of those who reach moral responsibility, become sinners in thought, word, and deed, and so are without excuse before God.
Blood Atonement for Sin
We believe that the salvation of sinners is wholly by grace, through the mediatorial office of the Son of God, who by the appointment of the Father freely took upon Him our nature, yet without sin honored the Divine Law by His personal obedience; and by His death made a full and vicarious atonement for our sins.
Salvation by Grace Through Faith, Apart from Works
We believe that, in order to be saved, sinners must be born again; that the new birth is a new creation in Christ Jesus; that it is an instantaneous act and not a process; that in the new birth the one dead in trespasses and in sins is made a partaker of the divine nature and receives eternal life, the free gift of God;
Security of the Believer
We believe that all the saved have “eternal life”; and shall never perish, and that they are kept by the power of God, through faith unto salvation, ready to be revealed in the last time.
Sanctification
We believe that sanctification is both instantaneous and progressive, beginning at conversion. In its instantaneous sense, it is positional, and has to do with our standing. In its progressive sense it is experiential and has to do with our walk and state.
The Church
We believe that the Church, which is the body and the espoused bride of Christ, is a spiritual organism made up of all born-again believers of this present age. We believe that the establishment and continuance of local churches is clearly taught and defined in the New Testament Scriptures. This church is a congregation of immersed believers, associated by covenant of faith and fellowship of the Gospel; observing the ordinances of Christ; governed by His laws, and exercising the gifts, rights, and privileges invested in them by His Word; its officers and pastors and deacons, whose qualifications, claims and duties are clearly defined in the Scriptures. We believe that the true mission of the church is the faithful witnessing of Christ to all men as we have opportunity.
Ordinances of the Church
Baptism and the Lord's Supper.
The Righteous and the Wicked
We believe that there is a radical and essential difference between the righteous and the wicked; that only those who through faith are justified in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, and sanctified by the Spirit of our God, are truly righteous in His esteem; while all such as continue in impenitence and unbelief are in His sight wicked, and under the curse; and this distinction holds among men both in life and after death, in the everlasting blessedness of the saved and the everlasting conscious suffering of the lost.
Second Advent of Christ
We believe in that Blessed Hope, the personal, imminent, pre-tribulation and pre-millennial coming of the Lord Jesus Christ for His redeemed ones; and in His subsequent return to earth, with His saints, to establish His Millennial Kingdom.
Resurrection
We believe in the resurrection of the bodies of the dead, that believers who sleep in Jesus will be raised at the coming of Christ for His Church and caught up with transformed living saints to meet the Lord in the air, and that the wicked dead will be raised at the close of the Millennial Kingdom and stand in their bodies at the Great White Throne Judgment to receive their eternal punishment.
